PERFORMANCE DATES March 1st - March 16th, 2019 Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm Sundays at 2pm Run Time: Approximately 2 hours, with a 15-minute intermission SYNOPSIS For nearly two years, Anne, her father, mother, and sister, joined with the Van Daan family, to hide in a secret annex space above her father’s former office in Amsterdam, as the Nazis deported the Jews of Holland to their deaths. In her secret attic, Anne comes of age: she laughs, plays, fights with her mother, and falls in love for the first time. In spite of her oppressive circumstances and the horrors that surround her, Anne’s spirit transcends, as she voices her belief, “in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.” BEYOND THE PAGES OF THE SCRIPT Experience the play Beyond The Pages of the Script with Beaverton Civic Theatre's free enrichment programming! Create a journal of your own and find out how to use it to express your thoughts about your life and the world around you at this event, co-hosted with the Beaverton City Library Youth Services Division. Wednesday, February 27th • 7pm Beaverton City Library Auditorium The Holocaust may have taken place in the 1940s, but stories of those attempting to escape genocide and tragedy are still happening in our modern day. Olive Bukuru shares her journey from fleeing genocide in Makamba, living in a refugee camp, and her experience as a teen living in Beaverton and Hillsboro after her family emigrated to the United States. Olive comes to us through a partnership with The Immigrant Story. This discussion will begin at the Beaverton City Library and conclude at the Anne Frank exhibit at The Playhouse, Beaverton Civic Theatre's educational space located in Cedar Hills Crossing Mall. Sunday, March 10th Immediately following the 2pm performance Join us for a brief talkback with the cast and crew of The Diary of Anne Frank and engage in an informal, moderated discussion about the production design, rehearsal process, creating characters, and more.
