Based on the Emmy Award-winning 1970s cartoon, Schoolhouse Rock Live! follows Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV, when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music. BEYOND THE PAGES OF THE SCRIPT Sunday September 16th • 1pm - 2pm Beaverton City Library • Ages 2 - 12 with family Children are invited to explore the history of grammar and math through crafts, stories, music, and games including doing "The Circulation", making a 3-D solar system, and "Victim of Gravity" catapults! Meet characters from the upcoming production of Schoolhouse Rock Live! at this event, co-hosted with the Beaverton City Library Youth Services Division. Wednesday September 26th • 7pm Beaverton City Library Auditorium Join us for a special 50-minute preview event for the upcoming production of Schoolhouse Rock Live!. Children are born ready to be music makers. The window for music learning is open widest between ages 0-7, when brain development is vast and primary adult-child interaction is vital. Come learn about the world of early childhood music development and how you can support your child's inborn love of music through the lens of a parent, music therapist, teacher and family music center director, Kayla Hughes, MT-BC. Sunday October 7th • Immediately following the 2pm performance Join us for a brief talkback with the cast and crew of Schoolhouse Rock Live! and engage in an informal, moderated discussion about the production design, rehearsal process, creating characters, and more.
